In memory of Ted Dean Brady

February 18, 1947 – January 4, 2025

Ted Dean Brady passed away on January 4, 2025 at his home in Moab, at the age of 77.

Dean was born in Salt Lake City on February 18, 1947 to Lindsey Webster Brady (father) and Margaret Helen Laird (mother).

Dean spent most of his childhood in Eureka and Lehi, Utah. He attended Grand County High School and graduated in 1965. 

Dean served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He wanted to serve. He said that if he didn’t get drafted before his birthday he was going to enlist. He got drafted a week before his birthday. 

He worked in several professions, including at Rio Algom mine, operating machinery for Dave Cozzens and for the Grand County water district. During retirement, he enjoyed driving cars for Canyonlands Auto. He was a member of a mine search and rescue team and assisted with the Wilberg Mine Fire.

Dean had many hobbies, including cars, raising all types of animals, and, later in life, he loved taking his side-by-side out on the trails around Moab. 

Dean married Susan Thorpe in 1974 and they were sealed in the Manti, Utah, temple in November of 1989. 

Dean is survived by his daughter, Liana McFarland, and his son, David Brady. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William James Brady, and his beloved wife, Sue.
