Hello my friends! I had so much fun at my birthday party this week! Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate.
As part of my continuing celebrations, I wrote a fun story about everyone’s favorite topic – me! This is not a regular story: it’s a Mad Lib! If you’ve never played this literary game, here’s how it works: Have your friends and family think up words to fill in the blanks. The ( ) after the blanks tell you what kind of word to use. Then read it out loud together. Hilarity will ensue, I promise!
A Noun is a person, place or thing, like “catnip” or “cat food factory.”
A Verb is an action word, like “scamper” or “nap.”
An Adjective is a describing word, like “velvety” or “lustrous”
An Adverb describes a verb, like “nimbly” or “lazily”
My birthday party at Grand County Public Library was such a _________(adjective) day! I woke to find a _________ (adjective) pile of wrapped _________(plural noun) beside my ___________(furniture).
After tearing them open, I was ____________ (emotion) to find a brand new _________ (color) ___________ (noun) just my size! I also got a __________ (adjective) ___________ (noun) that will be perfect for my _________ (noun) hobby!
Looking around, I noticed the library was decorated with colorful _________(plural noun). It looked so _________ (adjective) and it made me feel extra ________(emotion).
Then I noticed the librarians were giving everyone slices of ___________ (food) to eat. Yum! “Maybe if I act extra _________(adjective) they’ll give some too,” I thought. So I ________-ed(verb) __________ (adverb) over to the _________(noun) and put on my best _________(facial expression). “Sorry, Birthday __________(noun)” they said. “That’s not good for you. I took a little bite, and it was ___________ (adjective). My _______(body part) felt a little ___________(adjective) so I __________ed(verb) it up all over the _________ (noun). Sorry, friends!
Then they all sang “_______________________”(name of a song) to me. It was so _________(adjective) I got a little __________(noun) in my _________ (body part), and I felt all better.
Soon I got a little __________ (feeling) so I decided to take a nice, long __________ (noun) on my favorite ___________ (type of furniture), where the _________(noun) streams through the __________(noun).
