Canyonlands Regional Airport in Moab announced that daily flights to Denver International Airport will start on April 1.
Contour Airlines, in partnership with United Airlines, will offer flights with a single ticket option for travel between Moab, Denver, and other destinations.
Contour will maintain its daily flights from Moab to Phoenix, a service it has offered since 2022, alongside the introduction of a new route.
The switch to Phoenix as a sole hub for Moab flights was acknowledged as non-ideal at the time. Denver International Airport is over ten times the size of Phoenix and handles four times as many daily departures. Further, a release from the Grand County Economic Development Department pointed out that the link also impacts regional healthcare services.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the management of Contour Airlines for their unwavering efforts in partnering with United Airlines to make this opportunity possible for Moab,” stated Tammy Howland, director of Canyonlands Regional Airport. “Their commitment to enhancing travel options for our community is truly appreciated.”
Further information regarding flight schedules and pricing will be available soon.
Air service to Moab is federally subsidized through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Essential Air Service program, which subsidizes flights to and from locations that otherwise might not be a profitable market for the airline. The program was created in the 1970s; Canyonlands Regional Airport is one of 115 EAS airports in the 48 contiguous states.
