Ankle Breaking Season?

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team is warning locals and visitors to avoid a common injury this time of year: ankle-breaking season. “We’re beginning to see an unfortunate pattern play out around this time of year,” a notice from the department reads. “Since 2020, Memorial Day weekend has coincided with multiple accidents and injuries resulting from cliff-jumping at the waterfall in the north fork of Mill Creek, better known as Left Hand.” This year four people were treated for injuries at the location; Last year, the location saw nine injuries in nine days around Memorial Day. There are now warning signs at the pool, but authorities continue to warn about the jump “that can lead to life-altering injury.”
