Cosmo’s Corner: teen summer activities

Cosmo perches on a chair.

It’s Cosmo the Library Cat here. Did you know I have my very own chair in the teen area at Grand County Public Library? It’s such a great place to chill out and enjoy the A/C during the hot days of summer.

Besides all of the fantastic books and computers, there are some cool teen programs going on this summer. There’s Maker Mondays with fun STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities. I’ve already seen them playing with this programmable robot ball and building lil tiny robots that zip around with a motor. I enjoyed chasing both of those through the library stacks!

Teens and tweens can drop in to Maker Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room. On Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. there is an interesting Cube Club. I find the colorful 3×3 cubes really confusing, but humans seem to get really excited when they solve them! I’ve also heard some whispers about That Friday Night Thing, upcoming video game nights on Fridays. The first one is going to be July 15! Be sure to check out www.tinyurl.com/moabteens for Teen/Tween program updates.
