On Jan. 7, Grand County Sheriff’s Office investigator Nate Whitney saw what he believed to be a deceased bird on Highway 191. Whitney stopped to clear the road only to find that the animal was a very large and very alive Great Horned Owl with a broken wing. Whitney, with help from other deputies, used a blanket from his vehicle to successfully swaddle the large owl and transfer it to Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation in Price, Utah.
