Local 4-Wheel club gives big to local groups

Every year, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, a 4-wheel drive club, donate money back into the community by having club members suggest local organizations that are dear to them. The Club also donates to groups working to keep visitors safe while outdoors.

This year’s community donation recipients include the Grand County High School (GCHS) swim team, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Department, the GCHS girls’ soccer team, the Canyonlands Rodeo Club, the GCHS Red Devils Mountain Bike team, the Moab Free Health Clinic, Grand Area Mentoring, the Grand County Sheriff’s Department, Grand County Search and Rescue, the GCHS and Grand County Middle School bands, the Canyonlands Care Center, Moab Valley Humane Society and the Moab Chamber of Commerce. Donations ranged from $500 to $4,000, with many recipients commenting on how much of an impact the funds have on programs.

“This will build one loaner bike for kids who can’t afford a bike,” said Mike Estenson of the GCHS Red Devils Mountain Bike team, while the funds donated to the high school and middle school bands will go to purchasing new marching band uniforms.

The Red Rock 4-Wheelers welcome new members. Club meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Unit B10 at the Moab Business Park (11850 South Highway 191). The club also has monthly trail rides, listed on their website at RR4W.com.
