Discover your life’s passion

If you’re having difficulty discovering your life’s passion or what career path to follow, Jo’Anne Smith would like to help.

Smith, a spiritual life coach with a professional title of Salt Lake Medium, is leading an “Inspire Your Soul’s Journey” retreat at Red Cliffs Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4.

Smith said she helps people by teaching them to manifest what they want to see happen in their lives by mapping out, and planning goals — something she said many people don’t take the time to do anymore.

“I believe we create the plan we want,” she said. “A lot of people don’t know what their passion is. Our job is to figure out what it is, and helping people find that.”

The retreat will kick off on Saturday at 6 p.m. with a wine and cheese pairing at Castle Creek Winery, next to Red Cliffs Lodge. During an opening ceremony back at the lodge, participants will “set an intention” of what they would like to transpire during the retreat.

“My passion is about healing and helping people move forward and live their best life,” Smith said.

At 7:15 p.m., the group will break for dinner at the lodge, followed by an outdoor drum circle at 8:45 p.m. – for some “sound therapy” on the back lawn near the Colorado River.

The following morning at 6:30 a.m., Cindi Pierce will teach a yoga class on the lawn next to the river deck. Pierce owns Southeastern Integrative Healing Arts Center in Price. She teaches Bodhi yoga, a type of vinyasa yoga.

“Bodhi means awakening; we liken it to awakening mind, body and spirit,” Pierce said.

Breakfast will be served at 7:15 a.m. at the Cowboy Grill at Red Cliffs Lodge – or, for those who choose to skip yoga, a breakfast buffet will begin at 6:30 a.m.

After breakfast, attendees will experience a half-day river rafting trip down the Colorado River, returning for a hot lunch buffet at 12:30 p.m. at the lodge.

A seminar and meditation in the lodge’s John Wayne room is from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a closing ceremony with drums and singing bowls from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

“It’s about getting away, having fun, and teaching about living by divine purpose,” Smith said.

She held a similar retreat at the lodge in June, which 42 people attended. Smith said it was so much fun she wanted to do it again. The cost of the retreat is $269 — which does not include lodging or dinner Saturday night.

Smith said she is both a psychic and a medium, meaning that she said she is able to glimpse the future and help people connect with loved ones who have passed on. She said she first became aware of this “gift” at age 5, when she said she saw “spirits.” She then later suppressed that ability, she said, due to some frightening things that came to pass. Smith said she has more than 20,000 clients nationwide.

The retreat at Red Cliffs Lodge, however, is a separate event and will not include medium work, she said. She created her “Inspire Your Soul’s Journey” retreats as a separate service.

“I just want to help people find the life they want,” she said.
