Canyonlands Field Institute (CFI) appreciates the support from local businesses and organizations to provide underwriting for outdoor summer camp opportunities. Grand County Recreation Special Service District, Canyon Voyages Adventure Co., Desert Rivers Credit Union and The Synergy Company have all contributed their support to educational and exciting 2019 outdoor summer camp programs. Their support provides both underwriting for local participants, as well as further scholarships for those in need, CFI said in a recent press release.
This year CFI is offering three exciting summer camp programs for kids and teens entering grades fifth through 12th.
Explorer Base Camp (fifth-seventh grades) is a four-night exploration of the La Sal Mountains based at Warner Lake.
Youth River Skills (seventh-ninth grades) is a two-night program that explores the world of rafting on the Colorado River while sharing fundamental rafting skills including natural history, river dynamics, rowing and paddling techniques, and more.
Whitewater Academy (10th-12th grades) is a three-night program that develops whitewater rafting skills over the course of two days before running the exciting rapids of Westwater Canyon.
All summer camp programs focus on understanding the natural world through experience, teamwork, leadership, and inquiry.
CFI creates fun and engaging outdoor settings for children to explore the world disconnected from technology, and reflective of their ability to interact and grow from time spent outside.
Along the way program participants will make new friends, learn new outdoor skills and create memories that will last a lifetime.
