Paul R. Morse, June 13, 1948 – Feb. 22, 2019

Paul R. Morse passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Canyonlands Care Center.

Morse was born in Salt Lake City to Yvonne and Nolan Morse on June 13, 1948. The family lived in Texas and Oklahoma before Nolan and Yvonne retired to Nolan’s hometown of Moab.

Soon afterwards, some of the Morse clan followed, including Paul. He became known for his meticulous interior finish carpentry, and also for his whimsical furniture made from castoff pieces of lumber.

Morse married Rose Griffin, and for 14 years they ran the Bedrock Store in Bedrock, Colorado. In 2006, Morse moved back to Moab and worked various jobs and also played his harmonica in several Moab bands. He loved to play his instruments, tell stories to the tourists and make things.

He is survived by his four siblings, Mike, Steve, Tim and Susan; and nieces and nephews, Michelle, Nancy, Bill and Tom.

At Morse’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.SpanishValleyMortuary.com.
