Last Pearl Harbor survivor in Moab area remembered on Dec. 7

Lt. Col. (retired) Don Murray posed at the Grand County World War II Memorial to commemorate

the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. Murray was assigned to Wheeler Field in the field

artillery unit adjacent to Pearl Harbor. Lt. Col. Murray passed away in September and was the last

Pearl Harbor survivor in the area. He was the local face of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The country

remembers the horror of that attack on Friday, the 77th anniversary of the conflict that drew the U.S. into World War II. [Photo courtesy of Ron Irvin]
