Helen M. Knight Elementary’s Mayor-picked Student of the Month for October is Denis Cervantes.
Denis is the son of Jose Luis Torres and Maria Arroyo. Denis is a fifth-grade student in Mrs. Carter’s class.
Denis was nominated for his citizenship. His teachers said he is “a hardworker, not easily frustrated, and always does his best.”
“He is productive in class and does high-quality work,” Carter said. “He works well with others, always has a positive attitude, and takes pride in everything he does. He sets high standards for himself and holds himself to his own expectations. He is willing to work through difficulties and problems to make sure the job is done right.”
Carter said Denis is an asset to their classroom.
“We are lucky to have him in our community,” she said.
