Murial Dene Cardon, November 10, 1940 – August 29, 2018

Murial Dene Cardon passed away on Aug. 29 at Canyonlands Care Center.

Dene was born in Gallup, New Mexico, on Nov. 10, 1940, to Walter Courtland Mason, Jr., and Esther Fern Shumway Mason. She was the youngest daughter of five children. She married Phil Cardon on April 28, 1962, and they had three children. She was a homemaker.

In Moab, she was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings. She served in the Monticello temple until she became ill. She loved music and cowboy movies; her favorite cowboy was Roy Rogers, and her favorite cowgirl was Dale Evans.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Lavar (Susie) of Oklahoma; and Phillip Lamar (Lulie) of Michigan; a sister, Janet Mason Hilton; a brother, Stephen Bruce Mason; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phil Cardon; her daughter, Janet Lynn; and her sisters, Geniel Mason Cothran and Elaine (Teddye) Mason Knudsen.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Moab LDS Chapel on 400 North. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary, and a family viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
