From public defender to district judge

Grand County Attorney Andrew Fitzgerald (right) introduced 7th District Judge appointee Don Torgerson to the Grand County Council on Tuesday, June 5. Gov. Gary Herbert appointed Torgerson to fill the seat that Judge Lyle R. Anderson is vacating, but the Utah State Senate must still confirm that appointment. The Price-based attorney has served as Grand County’s contracted public defender, and Fitzgerald praised him for his tireless service, hard work and intelligence. “We are certainly fortunate to have someone of Don’s character,” Fitzgerald said. Torgerson is expected to take the bench some time in July. [Photo by Rudy Herndon / Moab Sun News]
