Community program on HB 224

Dear Editor:

Please join the League of Women Voters on May 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Star Hall to learn about the impact of “House Bill 224 County Government Change Election Amendments” on the citizens of Grand County. We will have speakers address the current form of government, the four approved forms of county government we have to choose from, and the process required of both elected officials and voters moving forward toward compliance with the requirements in HB 224 relevant to Grand County. This program will focus on logistics … not politics. Invited guests include local county and state elected officials, along with Moab City Council and mayor and representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties. Following the program, everyone will have an opportunity to visit in the sun court next to Star Hall.

This is an informational program. There will be no audience questions or comments. It will be recorded and placed on the LWV webpage at grandcounty.ut.lwvnet.org along with other related information, including handouts and contact information for your elected officials.

The LWV is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

Program coordinator for LWV.
