Stand up for those with pre-existing conditions

Dear Editor,

People with pre-existing medical conditions must be protected as we move toward better health care coverage for all. There is a new plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) being rushed to the hands of our elected officials. On April 21, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities reported on the new version of the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The revised version of AHCA would permit individual states to exclude citizens with pre-existing medical conditions from the general insurance pool. These folks would be forced into prohibitively expensive high risk pools. Hypertension, migraines and asthma are examples of pre-existing conditions suffered by many of us, our children and our fragile elderly. These conditions are not expensive to control with proper medical attention. Loved ones will be hurt by the current AHCA plan hastily prepared in a rush to push through an action in 100 days. Contact your elected officials to let them know how this bill impacts you and your family.
