On Tuesday, February 16, we lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and nephew. Michael Dennis O’Reilly died unexpectedly and suddenly from cardiac arrest.

He was born in Torrance, California, to Neil Frances O’Reilly and Alice Christine Hansen O’Reilly on July 22, 1959. He moved to Moab, Utah, with his family in 1979.

He met his beloved wife Marilyn Shelton on January 3, 1980. They were married on June 28, 1980, to begin their beautiful life together. They became parents to three boys: Dennis Neil in 1981, Michael David in 1982, and Patrick William in 1987.

He worked a variety of jobs, from uranium mining to coal mining and managing a gas station. For the last 27-plus years, he worked as a house painter.

Mike enjoyed being outdoors camping, four-wheeling, hunting and enjoying time with his family. He found joy in being the best grandpa to Preston Neil and Bailey Ray O’Reilly.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn O’Reilly; sons Dennis and Michael O’Reilly; daughter-in-law Katherine O’Reilly; and grandchildren Preston and Bailey O’Reilly. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Richard and Coleen O’Reilly; brother Fredrick Hunter; and brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Janet Hunter.

He was preceded in death by father Neil Frances; mother Alice Christine Morrissette; stepfather Wesley Hunter; son Patrick William; brother Brian O’Reilly; and brother Mark Hunter.

The O’Reilly family would like to express great thanks to all of those involved in Michael Dennis O’Reilly’s life-saving efforts. God bless!
