Emerging from a field of 11 applicants, Serah Mead has been selected to serve as KZMU’s new music director. Currently a DJ at KZMU on Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, Mead has lived in Moab for five years and first came here to intern for Community Rebuilds, where she later worked as associate director. She is a barista at Moab Classic Bikes and co-founder of Third Space Moab, a collaborative studio that supports low-cost and DIY arts. Mead has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from California College of the Arts and an associates degree from the College of San Mateo, where she interned at KCSM, a San Francisco Bay Area jazz station. She is a self-proclaimed “obsessive listener” of music, ranging from heavy metal to classical and jazz to folk.
