Robert D. Tangren, 1944 – 2015

Robert D. Tangren, age 70, returned home to his Heavenly Father peacefully, surrounded by his family in his home on Saturday, January 10, 2015. Bob was born on September 19, 1944 in Moab, Utah, to Bob and Gloria Eberle Carter.

On May 9, 1964, Bob married his sweetheart, Naomi Diane Horton; on June 2, 1984, they solemnized their marriage at the Provo, Utah, LDS temple. Bob served his country in the Air Force from 1962 to 1965 and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1965. He returned from the service and the couple made their home in Las Vegas. Two years later, they moved to Salt Lake City, where Bob received a degree in welding. In 1972, they settled their family in Moab, where they raised three boys. Bob lived out the rest of his days here.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; three children: Paul (Amy) Tangren, Brian Tangren and Darrin (Sandy) Tangren; eight grandchildren: Brenden, Tayler, Sara, Tristan, Hannah, Cooper, Robby and Clara; and three great grandchildren: Baylee, Raeleigh and Deegan.

Bob has three sisters: Cheryl Madden, Linda Bynum and Toni (Don) Knowles. He is preceded in death by both parents, Bob Tangren and Gloria Carter, and sister Cheryl Madden.

The family wishes to express gratitude to all those who have stopped by, called and brought food – most of all, for the loving and compassionate care given to Bob and his family.

A viewing will be held Thursday, January 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spanish Valley Mortuary. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the 4th North LDS chapel in Moab, Utah, on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, with a viewing to be held one hour prior.
