Marlene Wilson Bailey was born February 25, 1932 in Los Angeles, Calif. She completed her journey on earth May 23, 2014 in the Canyonlands Care Center.
The only child to LaVern Andrew and Myrtle LaVon Wilson, she was raised and schooled in Los Angeles, graduating from George Washington High School. Soon after, she met the love of her life. Ivan “Sug” and Marlene were married on November 11, 1949. To this union, four children were born: Dennis (Christine) Bailey, Pam Every, Brenda Bailey, and Matthew Bailey.
Marlene and Ivan joined the LDS church in 1958 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple.
In 1962, the family moved back to Sug’s hometown of Moab. Together they owned and operated Custom Craft for many years.
Marlene held several positions in the church but was most fulfilled when serving in the primary. She lived a life of service, always helping where needed. She loved quilting, scrap-booking, gardening, and spending time with her family and as many know baking Banana bread.
Marlene’s last four-and-a-half years were spent in care facilities, and even when she couldn’t call you by name, her big smile told you she was glad you were there.
Marlene is survived by her husband and four children; eight grandchildren: Brance, Ian, Cassidy, Tyrel, Amber, Dustin, Lacy, and Masen; and 11 great-grandchildren: Aven, Etta, Jaxon, Chantel, Trinity, Harper, Tenoya, Laura Pearl, Kyler, Dakoda, and Wattson.
A Graveside Service took place on May 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
