Barbara J. Carey, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great, and great-great grandmother and friend, made her final journey to Heaven on May 23, 2014.
She was born December 10, 1934 in Walsenburg, Colo., and grew up in Grand Junction, Colo. with her mom, dad, sister Violet and Brother Teddy. She got married, had three daughters, Terri (Alan), Diane (David) and Stacie (Timmy) and gained two more daughters and a son, Sandi, Suzi and Jerry when she married D.D. Carey.
They then moved to Moab in 1961, where she and D.D. lived the rest of their lives. Barbara had a great love for her whole family, she loved her church (Moab Baptist Church) and Pastor Cole Howe and all the people in it, and a lifetime of friends. Her family would like to thank them all for treating her so well and also a big thanks to the Moab Diner and the wonderful staff there who treated her like part of their family, and in the end, the Canyonlands Care Center with the peace of mind you gave us for the exceptional care you gave to her.
