Free Bird

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Brian Evans releases a rescued golden eagle into the wild on Sunday, March 9 at Dead Horse Point State Park. Evans originally discovered the eagle after it had been struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 191 north of Moab in July 2013. Evans turned the injured bird over to Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation in Price. The organization, headed by Debbie Pappas, spent months caring for the eagle prior to its release. A second eagle rescued from Carbon County was released the same day by the Second Chance’s Moab events coordinator Yrma van der Steenstraeten. [Photo courtesy of Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation]
