Junior and Little Devils wrestle in Colorado

Four Junior Devil wrestlers traveled to the Delta Panther Paw Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Delta, Colo., with Little Devils coach Eddie Guerrero.

The tournament was made up of eight-man brackets filled with tough competition, Guerrero said.

Dylan Harrison finished in second. Carson Whitney and Maison Moyle finished in fourth. Caison Ault finished in eighth place.

Little Devil wrestlers placed as well.

Austin Paris, Lane Peterson, Ean Ellis and Jaxon Carroll took first place in their divisions. Breckin Shepherd, Rowen Phillips and Jason McKinney placed second in their divisions. Caden Swasey, Kristopher Harrison and Landon Moralez placed third in their divisions. Ayden Ceniceros and Connor Swasey placed fifth in their divisions. Trace York, Aaron Stewart, Brayden Althoff and Cooper Swasey placed sixth in their divisions. Ryker Ault placed eighth in his division.

“They wrestled very strong and performed well against some very good wrestlers,” Guerrero said. “For some of them this was the first time they wrestled in a tournament. All of them should excellent sportsmanship and I am very proud of these kids and look forward to the next tournament.”

Their next tournament will be the Little Devil Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Moab.

In addition, Carson Sheets traveled to the Youth Super State Tournament in Heber City, with his dad and coach Kelly Sheets.

Carson Sheets wrestled in the fifth and sixth grade division, 85-pound bracket.

“The bracket consisted of 22 tough wrestlers from all over the state,” Sheets said. “Carson fought hard and made the podium, bringing home a fourth place trophy.”

The match that Carson Sheets won to secure a place in the tournament went into four overtime periods with a score of 2-0.

Carson Sheets finished the fall/winter season with a record of 40 wins and 17 losses. Super State signified the end of the fall/winter wrestling season.
