Moab athletes bring home medals

Local competitors David and Macrae Olsen, Anastacia Andrus and Kyle Pickens recently competed in events at the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City, with Macrae Olsen, Andrus and Pickens bringing home medals.

Andrus brought home a silver medal in the youth 12-17 flag sparring karate competition on Saturday, June 8, and Pickens won a bronze medal in adult board breaking.

Macrae Olsen competed in cycling events on Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21, placing 15th in the 4-mile hill climb, third in the men’s 19-29 division. On Friday, he was the only competitor in his division in the criterium race. David Olsen competed in the shorter 1.4-mile hill climb, placing eighth overall and fifth in the men’s 50-54 division.

The Utah Summer Games concludes with archery, track and field, and wrestling. Track and field registration is closed. Archery participants may register online through Thursday, June 27 or on-site on Friday, June 28 from 3-7 p.m. Online wrestling registration closes on Thursday, June 27 at 5 p.m., but participants may register on-site prior to weigh-in on Friday, June 28.
