Charter School teacher heads to space academy

Moab Charter School Teacher Chelsi Olson was accepted to Honeywell’s Space Academy Program for Educators. She was chosen from over a thousand applicants.

Olsen will have the opportunity to learn about space and science by spending five days at the world’s premiere space learning center in Alabama summer of 2013.

Throughout the week Educators at Space Academy, she will be able to participate in a wide variety of activities that use space to meet math and science objectives. All activities are correlated to National Science, Math and Reading Standards.

This professional development program is designed to help math and science teachers from around the world become more effective educators in science, technology, engineering, and math. Educators are empowered with supplemental teaching techniques through simulated astronaut training and innovative educational tools that help bring science to life in the classroom.

Olson first learned about this academy when she had the honor of being chosen for the Michelson Exxon Mobile teacher’s Academy last summer in New Jersey.
