Prostar Moab FC and Prostar Moab LGZ, traveled to Cortez for competition in the Colorado Southwest Soccer League. The U12 boys team (FC) posted two more wins and remains undefeated. They defeated the OCSA Storm from Ridgeway, Colo., by a score of 9 to 4 with strong offensive performances from Juan Gonzalez, Nolan Ramirez, Kevin Park, Teddy Park and Kane Scherer. The following match, anchored by solid goal keeping from Cameon Hoppensteadt and Ben McGraw and stout defensive play from by Jose Taveris, Wyatt Gholson, Josie Camps, Philip Geiser, Alex Lacy and Eli Taylor, Moab triumphed over the Telluride Crossfire 13 to 1. The U10 girls team (LGZ) also went 2 and 0 with a tight 3 to1 win over the Tri-City SA Cortez Galaxy and a forfeit. The Cortez match was highlighted with performances by Neelie Relph, Kaci Mckinney and Tava Walling with incredible goal keeping from Jaci Shumway. In a show of courage the girls scrimmaged with the Durango club team that dominated them in their very first league match. Strong physical play from Edna Dominguez, Jessica Jones, Olivia Medina, and Paige Shumway and offense generated from Mona Taylor, Chloe Talbot and Zoe Kosa tied the game at halftime. Despite the injured Anika Scherer bravely making an appearance in the second half, Durango prevailed. The next scheduled league play will be in Montrose, Colo., in two weeks.
